Hey ..
Do you have less interest in eating and making sweets like me..
But in lots of puja ,vrat or traditional functions ,we have to make some sweets with no options left :P

Ok come i will show you a really tasty sweet recipe which you can prepare in minutes ...

and take my words you are going to get a lot of compliments and shhhhhhhhhhh............. don’t tell the process and ingredients to any one  ;)

Lets get started ..

Coconut ladoo

Ingredients

½ tin Condensed milk
2 cups of Desiccated coconut powder
1/2 tsp of cardamom powder
Handful of dry fruits(chopped almonds and kishmis)

I made chocolate coconut ladoo for which I used a spoon of Nutella but its optional J

METHOD

1.Mix all the ingredient in a bowl and with the help some ghee roll them in shape of ladoos.
2.keep it in refrigerator for 5-10 mins to set..

And yes its done :D

  


Are you worried that that your bread is 2-3 days old..
What can be done with this ???
Here you go with a recipe which is perfect for not very fresh bread :P

Bread Upma:

Ingredients

   Bread - 5 slices (brown or white bread but preffered white and 1-2 days old)   Onion- 1 big (chopped in length wise)   Tomato - 1   Green chilli - 2 slit   Ginger -1/2 tsp finely chopped   Turmeric powder
   Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
   Curry leaves – few


   Curd 2 Tbsp
   Salt to taste
   Oil - 2 1/2 tsp
   Coriander leaves for garnishing


Method
1.Cut bread into squares(You can remove side crust if you like)
2.Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add curryleaves, ginger, green chillies, 3. Add onions and sauté until onions turn transparent.
4.Add chopped tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder, and cook until tomatoes are soft and mushy.
5.Add curd and after 2 mins add bread pieces and toss until bread is well coated with the prepared gravy.

Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it with Tea J
Your quick breakfast/tea time snack is ready J

Unexpected Guests arrived : no worries Here is one Jhat pat (Quick) tasty snack with handful of ingredients, which is easily available in your kitchen ,which will surprise your guest and you will get a lot of compliments :)

Ingredients:
Bread (white or brown): 4 slices
Sweetened Yoghurt: 1 cup


Chilli powder or black pepper: 1tsp
Cumin powder: 1/2tsp (roasted)
Chaat masala: 1tsp
Black salt:1tsp
Sweet tamarind chutney: 2-3tsp
Green coriander chutney: 2-3tsp
mixture of Crushed roasted groundnut, cashew nut.
To garnish: Pomegranate and Sev(Nylon or Bikaneri)
Salt to taste

Approximate preparation and cooking time: 15 minutes
Method:
1.Whisk the yoghurt and add sugar, salt, black salt, chaat masala, black pepper powder to it. Mix and keep aside.
2.Prepare the bread vadas using a steel bowl to cut into a round shape. Use a smaller bottle cover for cutting the center. Cut all the 4 bread slices and keep aside.
3.Spread the green chutney and put the crushed nuts mixture on the cut bread vadas. Cover with the remaining roundels.
4.To assemble the snack, first pour half of the yoghurt mixture in the serving bowl. Arrange the bread on the yoghurt.
5.Add rest of the yoghurt. Top with sweet chutney, chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and chaat masala.
6.Garnish with coriander leaves, sev and pomegranate. Refrigerate for 5-10 mins and serve chilled Bread Dahi Vada.

A perfect mini meal for your lunch box 

Methi saunf parathe with aloo brinjal curry J

Methi saunf parathe:

Ingredients

·        2 cups of wheat flour
·        Handful of freshly washed and chopped methi leaves (if you don’t have any don’t worry you can use kasuri methi which is equally good in taste)
·        2 tbsp of fennel seeds(saunf)
·        Salt to taste and water to make the dough

Method:

1.Mix everything and make a soft dough and leave it for 10-15 mins
2.Roll out paratha out of this dough and on a hot tava/skillet/griddle place the rolled paratha.
3.make this on medium low temp.

And enjoy J

Aloo brinjal curry

Ingredient
1 medium size brinjal
1 potato
1 tomato
¼ cup of water
Turmeric,salt as per taste
1tsp Coriander powder
1tsp of chilli powder
Coriander leaves for garnishing

for tempering
Few curry leaves,mustard,cumin seeds
Method
1.peel potato and cut in to cubes ,chop brinjal and tomato in chunk size(not fine)
2. keep potato and brinjal in water to avoid it to turn black.
3.Place a cooker on stove
4.Put some oil and put everything under tempering
5.once mustard seeds crackled put tomato ,salt turmeric ,coriander powder,chilli powder and saute it for 1 min.
6.put brinjal ,potato and and ¼ cup of water.
 7. wait for 2-3 whistles and its ready J

Open the cooker mash 3-4 pieces of potato and brinjal with your round ladle and garnish with coriander leaves.

Your lunch box is ready J

Tip:you can take some curd and salad to make it more healthy option :)

Hello Friends...

Here comes my favorite dish "A very popular Rajasthani Dish".....


Yes you guessed it right "DAAL BAATI"

Do you know guys we are having similar kind of two dishes 
 1st is Rajasthani version "Daal Baati ": thats one without stuffing that is served with panchmela daal ,chutney and lots of gheeee :D

2nd is Bihari version "Litti Chokha": its  with sattu stuffing that’s and served with Chokha(potato and brinjal) .

And both are equally yummmmmmmmmmmm :P

 





So i will let you know how to make DAAL BAATI and LITTI CHOKHA :)

We will start with Daal Baati 

DAAL BAATI

Ingredients for Baati
·        2 cups wheat flour (atta)
·        1 tsp carom seeds
·        1tbsp Ghee
·        1 cup curd
·        salt to taste

Ingredients for Dal:
·        1 cup Tur Dal
·        ½ cup moong daal,
·        ¼ cup masoor daal
·        ¼ cup of urad daal
·        ¼ cup of whole green moong daal
·        1/2 tsp mustard
·        1 bay leaf
·        2 cloves ,2 cardamom,1 stick of cinnamon
·        1/2 tsp cumin seeds
·        1 tsp red chilli powder
·        1/2 tsp turmeric powder
·        1/4 tsp hing powder(asafetida)
·        1 onion, chopped
·        1 tomato, chopped
·        2 dry chillies,2 green chillies
·        2 garlic cloves, chopped,1 inch of ginger
·        1 tsp coriander leaves, washed and chopped
·       1 tbsp of lemon juice and  salt to taste

Method to prepare Baati:
1.Take all the ingredient listed under baati section. Mix well. Add sufficient water and knead into a stiff dough. Preheat oven to 180°C.(same can be done in gas tandoor).
2. Take lemon sized portions and roll into round balls and Press them slightly. Grease a baking tray. Place the baatis on it.. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake at 180°C till done. It may take 15-25 mins.(depends on your oven)
3.check if its golden brown take it out and immediately dip in ghee(take ghee in a separate bowl) and keep it prepared to serve with daal J

Method to prepare Daal:
1. Soak all mentioned daal (mentioned under daal) for 1 hour
2. Pressure cook all daals with salt and turmeric
3.  Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, asafetida, dry red chillies, bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms, curry leaves, ginger, green chillies,
4.Put onion, garlic and sauté it till become translucent
5.Add tomatoes and red chilli powder. Sauté till the oil surfaces.
6. Add the cooked dals to this and blend properly. Finish off with juice of lemon and chopped coriander leaves.

TIP:1.At the end you can put some mango pickle masala and pickle oil from top J
       2. You can gring 2-3 baatis with sume sugar,cardamom almonds and mix some ghee at            the end Rajasthani churma is ready :)

We generally eat a combination of saboodana ki khichdi and aloo nimbu ki sabji which avoids sticking of khichdi while eating..

Many people like eating sabudana ki khichdi with out anything,its your choice but at least once try this combination,i am sure you will love it.

Give it a try and let me know how it came out :)

Aloo Nimbu ki Sabzi 


Ingredients:

1 medium size boiled potato (Peel and cut in to cube)

1tsp of black pepper(or as per your taste)
2 tbsp of lime juice
2 cups of water
1 tbsp of ghee(please don't replace it with oil)
1 green chilly (slit it lengthwise)
few curry leaves
cumin seeds
salt as per your taste
coriander leaves for decoration

Method

1.Put ghee in pan or kadhai
2.Once the ghee is hot put cumin seeds,curry leaves,chilly and allow it to splutter.
3. Put cubed potato and sort it for 1 min
3. Now put water ,black pepper and salt and let it boil for 3-4 mins
4.Once it is boiled take a spatula and mash some pieces of potato(it helps to make the gravy little thick) and again let it boil for 4-5  mins.
5. When the curry is boiling ,meanwhile squeeze a lemon in some bowl(in which you want to keep your sabzi).
6. After 5 mins put sabzi in same bowl(having lemon juice) and top it with coriander leaves.

Serve it hot with sabudana ki khichdi .

Note: The same can be enjoyed with Fafar ke pakode,sabudana bade etc :)

Many people don't use turmeric during their fast ,so it can be prepared while you are fasting.

Hello Friends,

I thought a lot that from which recipe should i start my recipe blog, and at last i decided it will be one of my favorite and its dedicated to my special friend Swetchu :)

Sabudana ki khichdi :)


INGREDIENTS ;-



Soak the sabudana perfectly, for this add just enough water (wash the sabudana and soak in equal quantity of water,  i.e for 1 cup of sabudana add 1 cup of water)and soak overnight or minimum for at least 8 hours


·         Soaked sabudana -1 cup
·         Potato-1
·         Tomato-1 (its optional)
·         Green chilli-2
·         Chopped ginger-1/2 t.s
·         Lemon juice- 1tbls
·         Salt-1/2 t.s
·         Black pepper-1ts
·         Curry leaves-few
·         Cumin seeds-1/2 t.s
·         Oil - 2  tbl s
·         Roasted crushed peanuts

Procedure
1.     Peel and chop potato into small pieces.deseed the tomato and chop into small pieces.
2.     Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, when start crackling then add curry leaves, ginger and green chilies and cook for few seconds.
3.     Now add potato ,Stir and cover and cook it until its soft.
4.     Add tomato and put some salt (it helps to cook it fast).
5.      when tomato has releases its juices and turned little mushy ,add your sabudana.
6.     Cover the pan and cook for a minute on low heat.
7.     stir fry till sabudana become translucent.
8.     Now add lemon juice ,crushed peanuts, black pepper, and fresh coriander, mix well.
9.     Serve hot  .

Note:Sabudana can be made without tomato but i love with tomato as it keep it more moist and gives a tangy flavor.

Namaste/Hi/Hello Friends

I am Aarti Sriramka.

I was working in IT industry from past 5.5 years and now i have taken a break in life to spend some Quality time with family and myself :)

I am not a blogger and this is the first time i am starting this blog so that i can share some of my experience after getting married and managing Home and office.

I got married just after completion of my college and after 4 months of my marriage i joined TCS.

After that i understood Life of a MARRIED WORKING WOMEN is not so easy where husband is fond of home made food and and and so many guesting of family,friends,relatives and relatives and relatives and.....so onnnnnnnnnnn  :P ;)
Where everyone having keen interest of knowing how new wife(working) is making food at home,
specially if you are the First Daughter in Law till now doing job.

I made a alot of mistakes and got a alot of criticism/appreciation as well as tips and advice from all incoming/outgoing guests :P

And after almost 6 years i can tell that i have improved alot :)

Thanks to God that he gave me multiple opportunities to visit a number of places all around the world. I met different people and learned how to cook the same food in so many different styles.

I understood  ANYBODY CAN COOK with their own style or mix and match some of them and make it according to their own style :P

Thanks to everyone for teaching me so many things and Special Thanks to my brave HUSBAND that he tried (ate) all my experiments (some were so disastrous too :P )
so, i kept the name TRIED AND TASTED (tried by me and tasted by my husband :) )

Last but not the least i got a request from one of my special friend to share my experience with all so that it might help some busy Mom,Wife or Daughter in law to manage her life.
